Allman to tell all

Following in the footsteps of Keith Richards, Steven Tyler and Pete Townshend, Gregg Allman is the latest rocker to put his life on paper.

Allman, who underwent a successful liver transplant last year, will release his memoirs early next year.

In a statement, Gregg said: “I figure it's finally time to write about this crazy journey that's taken me around the world and back.”

The Allman Brothers Band was formed in 1969 by Gregg, brother Duane, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe Johanson. Following the deaths of Duane Allman in 1971 and Berry Oakley in 1972, the band survived a series of breakups and reunions to remain one of the world's most-acclaimed live acts.
