ABC Open: Blue Reels

Guthrie
Jul 1, 2011 Updated Jul 4, 2011

The ABC Open project has borne some impressive musical fruit...

In case you haven't already heard about it, the ABC Open project was set up so regional communities can publish photos, stories, videos, and sound via the ABC.

Blues musicians performing at Tasmania's Forth Valley Festival got together with local Tassie filmmakers to produce video clips for the Blue Reels project, and the results are now up online for all to see.

Last Laugh Films teamed up with Launceston's swamp blues band Guthrie to produce two clips of the band's tracks 'The Last Laugh' (pictured above) and 'Bitch's Kitchen', while filmmakers Mark Vernon and Cavell Schipp linked up with Tassie bluesman Pete Cornelius and King Cake to produce the video 'Tumbleweed'.
