Win Neko Case at Sydney Festival tickets

Neko Case 2009
Nov 27, 2009 Updated Feb 25, 2010

As part of the 2010 Sydney Festival, ABC Dig Music welcomes the return to Australia of the fabulous Neko Case... we have double passes to give away to one of her shows.

Neko plays January 11 and 12 at the Sydney Festival, proudly supported by ABC Dig Music.

Her latest album, Middle Cyclone, was released to wide acclaim earlier this year - and a Feature Album spot right here.  It sees Neko collaborate with M Ward, Calexico, The Sadies and Giant Sand.

To win a double pass to her performance on Monday January 11 at the City Recital Hall answer our competition question: Neko Case has collaborated with many great musicians over the years.  Name a musician you would like to see her collaborate with, and tell us why...

I'm thinking of a spoken word, ambient country album. So, we'll need William Shatner and Brian Eno. Shatner brings the 'word', Eno the 'ambience' and Case the 'country'. Case has already dipped the big toe into ambient music (cf. Marais La Nuit) and let's face it, country ballads can often be mistaken for spoken word; therefore, these collaborations are a natural step for Neko. I'm thinking, too, we need a Bjork Medulla vibe happening, which is something Eno can bring.

Joel Turner
Given that Neko is Japanese for cat, surely it should be none other than Chan Marshall (aka Cat Power). It'd be a gorgeous indie-lady meltdown!

Emma Stanton
Tori Amos - because two Reds are better than one!

Kate Mayes
I would like to see Neko Case collaborate with Johnny Cash.
Neko's voice is so sonorously surreal, rich and gorgeous. Neko has this voice that is like a call from the wilderness. And I've always thought that if God had a voice it would sound like Johnny Cash. It would be kind of cool if Neko and Cash could sing together - it would be so raw - baring of the soul kind of stuff. Of course, Cash would have to prove that he is God and start singing from the grave...

One "musician" I'd like to see Neko Case collaborate with would be Tom Waits. If there would be any reason why I think this should happen, it'd simply be because the outcome would be something eccentric, soulful and sweet. I use these words personally as they are only some of the words I can immediately think of to describe the music of these two greats. I mean, Neko Case and Tom Waits – why should there be a reason why? It would be awesome
