Felicity Groom is a singer songwriter from the west coast of Australia, playing a kind of dark folk music heavily inspired by blokes like Nick Cave, Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen and ladies like Kate Bush, Francois Hardy and Melanie.
Her career began in London in 2004, gathering fans as she started playing both supports slots and her own shows in the UK, Dublin and Paris. Arriving back in Perth in 2006 a bunch of well known Perth musicians fell in love with her songs and decided they needed to be her backing band – an underground super group of sorts – now named The Black Black Smoke. The band is Alex Archer (The Kill Devil Hills), Andrew Ryan (Adam Said Galore), Vanessa Thornton (Jebediah) and new drummer Mat Marsh. Felicity has been steadily increasing her profile in Australia over the last 12 months touring nationally with Bob Evans, Little Birdy and Wagons.
Last year Felicity launched her debut EP ‘Treasures’ and has since picked up high rotation and feature artist spotlights on Triple J, jmag & JTV and won the 2009 and 2010 WAMi Award for Best Indie Pop Act.
Thanks to everyone at 720 ABC Perth for helping us set this up and letting us loose in their studio!

Like Jeff Buckley minus the songwriting appeal.
That is a gorgeous perfomance. Thank you for taking notice of a Perth girl too.
