Gr8 new tunes by Mr Freedman. How are these things recorded at the ABC? I don't see a microphone anywhere. It's not like Countdown and they're lip-synching? Either that or you have invisible mikes!

I wondered how they recorded it myself. Then I saw a microphone in the Dan Sultan and Alex Gow instalment. It's a (very expensive) Neumann MS stereo shotgun mike. The American "Tiny Desk" series is recorded with a Sennheiser MS shotgun. Of course the ABC had to go one better (or at least more expensive!).

Of course a great mike has to be used well. And in this setup, that's mostly about putting it in exactly the right place!

Great sound.
