External Review:
"All in all, The Winter I Chose Happiness is a great fifth album. It’s engaging, exciting and Clare Bowditch’s voice is just great. The songwriting is different to previous records, but I guess that’s what makes it exciting – that even after doing four albums, Bowditch still has the ability to change it up. I have a feeling that she’ll never fail to inspire and surprise us in future releases. She’s really an asset to the Australian music scene. In her own beautiful words: “May You Remember Your Happiness, and not stop searching until you have.”"

Comments
OK, I find myself needing to comment here. Clare; "I had a day off so I wrote an album, here's a track from it" Oh dear. Not knowing this artist, I was already cringing at the pretentiousness of that last utterance, but I thought oh well, give it a chance.... Oh dear! Clare, next time you have a day off, read a nice book or do some gardening.
Where are we going guys, there are so many talented authentic artists out there, DIG is playing them all day, when we let this shallow, pretentious, crap dirge wash over us without wanting and asking for more, we are then approving and condoning this slide into the mire. Stand up for the GOOD.
There, that didn't hurt did it.
Keep up the good work DIGgers. (fewer station ID's would be a relief for the long term listener)
PS can you please make the CAPTCHA Maths questions a bit easier, I had find a young person to help me with this one.
I have to disagree with Terry's comments. I have been following Bowditch for a number of years now, not just her albums, but also her live performances. I have never known a musician to be so engaged in the artistic process, and to be so open with her fans about where she stands on life, music and what she creates.
At a baseline, her music is honest, emotive and original, and I find that her albums have seen me through any number of situations, from house parties, to friendly gatherings, to emotional times by myself. It is rare to find an artist who can create music that can be so important to people across a variety of situations.
To go further, her communication with fans through her live performances and her social media is phenomenal. Clare takes the time to respond to her audience, and uses what they tell her to influence her music, not just relying on what a record label demands. Her releases are driven by her interaction and open communication with fans. If you have ever seen her perform live, at one of the large number of gigs she holds, you will grow to understand this connection. Her gigs have also been the launching ground for a number of new Australian musicians, who she helps nurture and then brings to the public eye.
Beyond her music, her involvement in public appearances such as question and answer sessions, the Women of Letters event and controversial appearances on Q&A have all highlighted her passion for the art that she is involved in. She has taken her concerns and questions about art to the public, and even to the Prime Minister. Her opinions are considered and reflective, and she is doing more for art in this country than most people who ae tasked with it's development. Hardly shallow, or pretentious.
You ask DIG to stand up for the good in music in your comment. I believe that promoting an Australian artists who cares for and understands her audience, remains public and topical, is honest and refreshing, not bound to a publicity machine, who engages with those who suport her, and respects the opinions of others would be just that.
That's great Brandon, she rings your bell, I get it. It's such a simple thing that I'm saying, and it's not personal. She has no talent as song writer. For me, music is about THE MUSIC. If it's a warm turd held up as great art I suffer. You only have to look around at what's popular to realise it's all downhill from here. UNLESS PEOPLE SPEAK UP!
