Gurrumul
Biography
Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu (born 1970) is an Indigenous Australian musician, who sings in the Yolngu language. He was born in Galiwin'ku, off the coast of Arnhem Land, Northern Australia about 580 kilometres from Darwin. He is from the Gumatj clan of the Yolngu and his mother from the Galpu nation. He was born blind, has never learned Braille and does not have a guide dog or use a white cane. Yunupingu speaks only a few words of English, and is said to be acutely shy. He plays drums, keyboards, guitar (a right hand-strung guitar left-handed) and didgeridoo, but it is the clarity of his singing voice that has attracted rave reviews. He sings stories of his land in both languages (Gälpu, Gumatj or Djambarrpuynu, all Yolŋu Matha) and English. Formerly with Yothu Yindi, he is now with Saltwater Band.

I love the song 'Wakun' by Gurrumul because of his cultural roots and this song sings to me.
Pleeeeease stop playing this guy here, so so depressing for when stuck at work, surely you guys have a big enough back catalogue to move this to the world music station or something??
Nooooooooo!
In space no one can hear you scream. i had to turn off the radio and now I have missed heaps of great songs. PLEEEEEEEZ shift this dude to the world music station
i'm only speaking for myself. i don't "hate" anyone. This is supposed to be DIG radio. This poor guy just does not fit in and his sound grates my brain. He bloody well should be played on a world music channel cause I've been waiting for years to be able to listen to an alterative/ pop/ rock/ eclectic radio station without blasted ads and silly gigling disk jockeys/ hosts and it looks like this is the closest I'll get to what i want to listen to. I'm honestly thinking of starting up my own station as there is just so much good music that must be played that fits in with the Alternative/Prog/ rock/ pop theme and what DIG should be playing.
wow, why so many haters...if you dislike the song then simply find another station to listen to. simple.
I now turn my stereo down when you play Gurrumul, if I don't, I swear I'm going find a cliff and launch myself off it. His music is the most depressing sound ever. Yeah, OK, he's a blind aboriginal who sings in his native tongue, cudos. But that doesn't make it any easier to listen too. I'm pro-aboriginal but that doesn't mean I instantly like his music because of that. I've listened to his album and it's all depressing, whiney and frankly an offence to my mood. Please, please, please, please, please take it off the play list - you may lose listeners otherwise!
Great song. Ignore the haters.
This song is .........terrible. play it on the SBS world music channel, not here
this song really grates on my nerves, and i hear it on this channel EVERY f***ing day at least once. i didn't mind it to start with, but now it really irritates. i really LOVE this channel otherwise, but this is one that really sucks. you'll lose me as a listener if you keep playing it. please leave it for a bit. otherwise, only compliments.
........... couldn't agree more,give it a REST.So much great music out there ....
i'm sorry but can you give this guy a rest PLEASE1 Bloody awefull
This song is terrible. If I want to listen to this type of stuff I'll tune in to a world music or country channel. come on, lift your game please or I'm going to have to tune out
This song touches my soul, even though I have no idea what he's singing. Beautiful.
Fabulous music. Please play more music from Gurrumul

l can't get enough of his beautiful music, lt's so calming and he's just one talented young man. may he enjoy every success.
