Biography
Emmylou Harris (born April 2, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She has released many chart-topping albums and singles over the course of her career, and has won 12 Grammys and numerous other awards. In addition to her work as a solo artist and bandleader, both as an interpreter of other composers' works and as a singer-songwriter, she is a sought-after backing vocalist and duet partner, working with numerous other artists including Gram Parsons, The Band, Linda Ronstadt, Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton, Mark Knopfler, Guy Clark, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Rodney Crowell, and Neil Young.

'fellow Canadian' hotshod? Anyway, agreed, Emmylou's latest albums are excellent, ground-breaking. But her earlier albums from the 70's are what country music should be! Try Luxury Liner, Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town, or the bluegrassy Roses in The Snow for starters.
This women is wonderful.... I suggest any would be fans, go back and pick up Emmylous albums from the mid 90's on.... Start with Wrecking Ball , this album changed Emmylou's direction , being produced by fellow Canadian and U2 producer Daniel Lanois a true sound man of atmospherics. Plus a truely beautiful album of "Stumbling in to Grace"........ You'll luv it
